ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has appreciated the security and safety mechanism of nuclear programme and said Strategic Plans Division (SPD) has been playing an important role in strengthening Pakistan’s defence capabilities.
The Prime was talking to the newly appointed DG Strategic Plans Division (SPD), Lt. Gen Mazhar Jamil who called on him at the PM House here Wednesday and discussed matters relating to Pakistan’s nuclear, missile and space programmes.
Lt. Gen Mazhar Jamil thanked the government for reposing confidence in his abilities for this important assignment and assured the prime minister that he will perform duties to the best of his abilities.
The prime minister expressed the confidence that under his command the Division will continue to work towards this end.
The SPD is an important component of National Command Authority which is headed by the prime minister and exercises complete command and control over the country’s nuclear and strategic capability structure.
