Court issues notice to Meesha Shafi, seeks reply

Lahore: A Session Court in Lahore has restrained Meesha Shafi from using inappropriate language against Ali Zafar besides serving notice on her in connection with the defamation case filed by Ali Zafar.

The court while issuing the notice to Meesha Shafi has sought a reply from her side.

The petitioner in the petition has taken the stance that Meesha Shafi had levelled false allegations of harassment against him that damaged his fame around the world.

The petitioner further prayed that the court should order Meesha Shafi to pay Rs1 billion in damages to him.

Earlier, Meesha Shafi’s legal counsel has rejected all the claims made by Ali Zafar in a defamation notice that the latter’s legal team had sent previously.

Shafi’s legal representative Ahmed Pansota said, “We’re not talking much about it but everything we wished to say is included in the legal notice.”

He added, “We categorically deny all allegations, assertions and/or insinuations made in Ali Zafar’s notice, sent to us earlier against Meesha, all of which are legally and factually incorrect.”
