ISLAMABAD - Perhaps for the first time after taking the charge as Federal Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, paid a surprise visit to different police check-posts across the Federal Capital in the wee hours Wednesday and suspended SHO Kohsar Police Station for negligence in his duties. The Minister suspended Inspector Munawar Ali, Station House Officer (SHO) Kohsar Police Station along with some police personnel deputed a police picket near Blue Area at a time when the police personnel did not bother to check the private vehicle boarding the Minister, while it passed through the picket. Head Constable Ijaz, Constables Nazir, Mazhar and Qaisar Ayaz were among the other officials swere also uspended by the Minster along with the SHO. Around 2 am on Wednesday, the Minster also visited the police pickets established near F-6/3 and Diplomatic Enclave and appreciated the police officials deputed there for their alertness and dedication, as the officials intercepted the Minister on both the above-mentioned pickets for checking. According to Interior Ministry officials, the Minister without informing authorities concerned visited various police posts in his private car only along with a driver in a bid to check the alertness of police officials deputed on different police pickets in the federal capital. The Minister even set aside his personal security to observe the efficiency and modus operandi adopted by the capital police to examine the various vehicles passing through a particular police picket when the country is severely hit of acts of violence and terrorism.
