The Lahore High Court on Thursday issue non-bailable arrest warrants for the lawyer slapped a judge of local court, a private TV reported. Civil Judge Tariq Mehmood was slapped by Liaquat Javaid advocate while he was hearing a case on Monday. Javaid was the lawyer for an accused. The LHC later took suo motu notice of the incident on Wednesday. Around 45 civil judges had resigned in protest of the alleged manhandling of their colleague, announcing a pen-down strike that was later called off after suo motu notice by the LHC. A two-member bench of LHC today commenced hearing of the case. Civil Judge Tariq Mehmood and police officials appeared before the court; however, the accused Liaquat Javaid advocate was not present. On which the court, expressing its annoyance, issued non-bailable warrants for the lawyer and ordered to brought him before the court hand-scuffled. On the other hand, lawyers and judges community boycotted courts to express solidarity with their colleagues.
