CHINIOT - Three alleged dacoits were killed in a police shootout while four others believed to be members of an inter-district dacoits’ gang were arrested on Friday night.
The ten armed men on four motorcycles intercepted a truck (DNB-5658) at the Chiniot-Chak Jhumra Road and snatched three mobile phones and cash from driver Mohammad Ilyas and conductors Liaqat and Amir.  On driver’s call, a police party rushed to the spot and chased the dacoits who fled to nearby village Chak 126 JB. Police got the culprits near Canal Bridge and a shootout erupted and lasted for one hour.
Ultimately, the police killed the three men and arrested the four others with a huge cache of arms and ammunitions. Later, they were shifted to the DHQ Hospital.  Their three motorcycles (CTK-5119; CT-978 and FDQ-2447) were also taken into custody.  Three of the dacoits on a motorcycle managed to escape. The preliminary investigations revealed that these dacoits committed a daocity at the house of Ilmas Chatta in Chak 147 JB, Faisalabad in the same night and gang raped the household women after looting valuables.  Moreover, investigations revealed that these dacoits are part of Oad Gang which is involved in dacoity; rape and murder cases in Faisalabad; Chiniot; Kasur and Sheikhupura.  The deceased were identified as Rafiq Bao of Sheikhupura; Sophni Malangi of Sherakot, Lahore; Salla Charagh of Chak Bundi, Chiniot and the injured as Riaz Anwar of Kasur; Khadim of Sheikhupura; Babu Barkat of Kasur and Bashir of Sherakot. DPO Chiniot Rana Shahzad Akbar said that that five policemen were also injured in the shootout.
