KARACHI - Sindh government has appointed former District and Sessions Judge Pir Ali Shah as inquiry officer to conduct the judicial inquiry into the killing of a teenager.
He was shot dead for not pulling down the shutters of a puncture shop near Kamran Chowrangi in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on March 23, 2012 during passing of rally of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (Bashir Qureshi Group).
Following the incident, fear and tension gripped Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Closure of shops as well as incidents of robbing/snatching even from the women was reported by the media and some eyewitnesses.
According to a notification issued by Sindh Home Department, the terms of reference of judicial enquiry shall be to ascertain the circumstances and causes leading to the above-mentioned incidents and to fix the responsibility and recommend the action to be taken against responsible.
The notification further said that Section Officer (Judi-II) shall act as secretary of inquiry tribunal and the inquiry officer would submit report within 30 days to the Sindh Home Department.
