Fair elections in Pakistan in US interest: CSIS

Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a US think-tank has said that the holding of fair and peaceful elections in Pakistan was in US interests.
CSIS in its report said that if the people of Pakistan do not recognize the government that comes into power after elections as legitimate, then it would be equally worrisome for the stability in Pakistan as well as for the US army withdrawal from Afghanistan.
The report said that non-interference of Pak army in the elections was also in US interest, as it should remain focused on the fragile security situation in the country.
The report further said that US would work with the government that would come into power by winning the elections and, therefore, US wants that the election process in the country should be free, fair and peaceful.
US policy makers are also aware of this fact that an alliance government faces difficulties in decision-making that affects Washington’s policy making also.
