ISLAMABAD - Unseeded Nasir Iqbal lost the final of the Burgan Bank Challenge 10 2013 Squash Championship against the top seed and hot favorite Abdullah Al Muzayen 3-0 in the Kuwait City.

With this victory, Abdullah Al Muzayen extended his remarkable record to 11th successive final on the PSA World Tour. Since joining the PSA in 2005, the No 1 seed finished as runner-up only three times in 17 final appearances and has not lost a final since December 2010, winning the Progetto six Open in Italy.

Top seed Al Muzayen brushed aside all of his opponents in straight games before the final where he met surprise opponent Nasir Iqbal, whom he also managed to beat 3-0. Nasir, who was unseeded in this event, created his own impressive run by making the final against expectations after ousting Malaysia's No 2 seed Muhd Asyraf Azan 11-7, 11-8, 11-4 in the semi-finals.

Nasir, with three Tour title under his belt in the past five months, world no 69 hailing from Bannu, was celebrating his fourth final in five events since October last year. But Abdullah was strong enough for Nasir to beat him 11-9, 11-7, 11-4 to win the 14th Tour title of his career and his ninth on home soil.

“I have learned a lot from this event and I must say despite losing the final, I am not disappointed and I will bounce back in style in the next events,” Nasir concluded.
