Los Angeles (BBC)Bodybuilding guru Joe Weider, the man who launched Arnold Schwarzenegger's Hollywood career, has died aged 93. Known for creating the Mr Olympia bodybuilding contest, Weider built a magazine empire that included publications like Muscle and Fitness, Shape and Men's Fitness. He died in Los Angeles of heart failure, his publicist said.

The Conan the Barbarian Star paid tribute to the man he called "the godfather of fitness."

"He taught us that through hard work and training we could all be champions," said the former California governor in a statement on his website.
