NOORPUR THAL - A seminar was held here at the Government Degree College in connection with ‘Ikhtataam-e-Dengue’, wherein the teachers, other staff members and students were appreciated for their role in creating awareness about the deadly mosquito ailment and preventive measures in this context.

College Principal Malik Habib Ullah Saggu chaired the seminar while profs Malik Nawab Din Kilyra, Hafiz Maqbool Hussain, Sheikh Abdul Latif, Zainul Abidin, Malik Ramzan and Malik Nawab Din addressed the participants.

They emphasized that each and every one should play their role to fight dengue. They hoped that due to preventive measures and year long planning by the Punjab government the intensity of dengue would be continued. Speakers urged the participants to actively take part in anti-dengue campaign. A large number of students also attended the seminar.

KHAN CLUB BEAT JAMALI CLUB: The Khan Cricket Club beat Jamali Cricket Club by 64 runs to lift the inaugural Minhaj Cricket Tournament 2012 played here at Awami Cricket Ground.

Put into bat first, Khan Cricket Club scored a total of 169 runs in the allotted 10 over. Fayyaz scored 51 runs. Ikram bowled well for Jamali Club and grabbed three wickets for 46 runs. In reply, the players of Jamali Cricket Club were all out on 106 runs as Hafeez made 24 runs.

Former PML-N MNA Malik Shakir Bashir was the chief guest in the final match while former Town Committee Vice Chairman Malik Manzoor Ahmad and Coordinator Awan Group Malik Muhammad Khalid were also present on the occasion.

The chief guest gave away winning trophy and cash prize of Rs10,000 to Khan Cricket Club while the runners-up Jamali Cricket Club received cash prize of Rs5,000. Fayyaz was named man of the match and get Rs2,500.
