AHMEDPUR EAST - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif ‘reportedly’ has failed to resolve differences among the leading members of Gillani family, the Sajjada Nasheen (caretaker) of Uch Sharif.

As per details, the Punjab Chief Minister had invited former Ahmedpur East Tehsil Nazim Makhdoom Samiul Hassan Gillani and his uncle Makhdoom Syed Iftikhar Hassan Gillani who is Sajjada Nasheen of Uch Sharif, to Lahore and held a meeting with them. Reportedly, Shahbaz Sharif asked Samiul Hassan Gillani to withdraw his candidature in favour of acting PML-N District President Syed Ali Hassan Gillani from NA-183 Bahawalpur-1 (Ahmedpur East) and offered to accommodate him in the next Local Bodies setup as he was nominated as Bahawalpur District Council chairman in 1998.

According to reports, Sami Gillani politely turned down to withdraw in favour of his stepbrother Ali Hassan Gillani. He argued that he would contest the upcoming elections as his political career demand so. However, the Punjab CM assured to award the party ticket to former Unification Bloc MPA Makhdoom Syed Iftikhar Hassan Gillani from PP-267 Chanigoth-Uch Sharif as per the party policy despite opposition from Ali Hassan Gillani who was seeking the party ticket for his maternal cousin Syed Aamar Ali Shah. Meanwhile, a tug-of-war is continued between two PML-N aspirants from PP-268 Ahmedpur East - Qazi Adnan Farid and Mohammad Ejaz Khan Baloch.

Mohammad Ejaz Baloch has been former NC nazim and being backed by former British Parliamentarian Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar and the PML-N expected candidate from NA-183 Ali Hassan Gillani while former Assistant to Punjab CM  Engineer Balighur Rehman is lobbying for his maternal cousin Qazi Adnan Farid. Qazi Adnan is also supported by former Provincial Minister Iqbal Channar and the party former MNAs from district Bahawalpur.
