RAWALPINDI - Senior Special Magistrate Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Aamir Qureshi said that the authority recovered Rs 1.7 million arrears from the defaulters in 130 cases. According to available record, WASA supplied water to more than 80,000 consumers in Rawalpindi and its adjacent areas through Khanpur Dam, Rawal Lake and 270 tube wells.

Only a few consumers cleared their bills and the majority of them did not pay heed until WASA staff, along with police personnel, approached them at their doorsteps.

More than 50 percent of the consumers are defaulters, as they do not pay their water bills.Moreover, some of them had installed illegal water connections at their residences.
