ISLAMABAD  - Federal Minister for Finance Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has said that Rs500 million have already been transferred to the banks through BISP for disbursement of aid to 77,000 families of calamity hit areas of Tharparkar district.

He said that the remaining Rs.500 million for second quarter will be disbursed in mid May this year. The Prime Minister during his visit to the calamity hit areas of Tharparkar district had announced Rs 1 billion aid for poor families, said the official statement issued by Finance Ministry.

It may be mentioned that the federal government had decided to provide financial support of Rs 10,000 to the beneficiary families through Income Support Card for each of the two quarters i.e. March-June and July-September 2014. It was decided that there are 77000 BISP beneficiary families living in the bistrict, who are already getting Rs 3600 for each quarter and now in the light of the government decision, they will get Rs. 10,000 for each quarter.

The finance minister said that the enhanced amount will raise the purchasing power of the 77,000 families so that they could buy food stuff etc of their choice.
