KARACHI - Law enforcers claimed to have killed three alleged criminals including a Lyari gangster in separate encounters with the police and the Rangers.

They also claimed to have arrested some 64 suspects during the targeted operation.

The first encounter took place at Memon Goth where Gadap Town police raided at Super Highway on a tip off. The culprits opened fire at the police party. Two suspects sustained bullet wounds during the encounter and died on the spot. Police said they were identified as Abdul Rasool Baloch, 38, and Raza Barohi, 35, residents of Saakran and Qalaat districts, Balochistan. Police said they were trying to flee after snatching a truck from Sohrab Goth area. Police recovered the snatched truck. It said the culprits used to snatch goods trucks and took them to Balochistan.

Separately, Kharadar police claimed to have killed an alleged Lyari gangster at Khujoor Bazaar.

Police said during the snap-checking, they signaled them to stop the bike when the two riders opened fire on the police. In an exchange of fire, one gangster was killed on the spot and his accomplice managed to flee. Police claimed the victim was affiliated with Sheraz Comrade Group of Lyari.

The victim was also declared absconder in five cases of murder.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch police recovered a buried body on the information of detained accused from the New Karachi Industrial area. Police arrested Naeem who had abducted Tauqir from Gulshan-e-Maimar area and buried him after killing. During investigation, Nadeem revealed the place where the assailant dumped the body. The accused was nominated in kidnapping case by the mother of victim Tauqir. Police said four other accomplices were still at large. The body of the victim would be handed over to the family after DNA. 

New Karachi police claimed to have arrested a target killer involved in some 11 cases of politically-motivated targeted killings. SHO Chaudhry Afzal said the police, on a tip-off, conducted a raid at UP Mor area and arrested a suspect Amir aka Mithaa and recovered a TT pistol from his possession. 

Similarly, Rangers personnel, during an intelligence-based raid, arrested an alleged target killer from North Nazimabad locality. Sources said the suspect was involved in 23 cases of politically-motivated targeted killings. However, the Rangers shifted him to undisclosed place for further questioning.

Meanwhile, the police spokesman said during the 96 raids and six encounters, 62 suspects were apprehended while huge cache of weapons, explosive material and narcotics were also recovered from their possession.
