LAHORE - Offering mediation between Muttahida and govt, JI chief Sirajul Haq set three conditions for MQM – quit terrorism, disarms itself, and hand over murderers to lawmen.
In an interview at Mansoora, declaring JI as a progressive party, Senator Sirajul Haq said that PPP is a religious party as Yousuf Raza Gillani and Makhdoom Amin Fahim have thousands of spiritual disciples. He said that politics is not for contractors and cheaters, adding that during elections, support is gathered through media funding. “JI has no resources in this regard,” he added.
He further said that it was the current stance of the party due to which it was getting popular. He said that US lobby was creating hurdles for JI. He further said that JI had given a free hand to local leadership for the local bodies elections.
Siraj said that Zardari himself asked to visit Mansoora. “Even if a non-Muslim wanted to visit here, we will welcome him as I don’t want to divide Pakistani politics into religion,” he said. He said that PPP is a religious party, as Gillani and Fahim have disciples in million, but that was a separate issue that they had left the ideology of their ancestors.
Siraj also announced appearing before the election judicial commission. “The election was rigged that’s why we had boycotted the elections in Karachi and we would appear with all evidences,” he said.
The JI chief said that there was no danger of dictatorship. He said that he had requested the government to facilitate the delegation of JI to visit Bangladesh to attend the funerals of JI leaders.
“They have sacrificed for Pakistan, but our government did not live up to their expectations which gave a bad message even to the Kashmiris,” he said.
Senator Sirajul Haq said that some foreign powers were interfering in the affairs of Karachi and were trying their best that the criminals arrested during the operation should be dealt with leniently. However, he said that if the government and the armed forces were serious and wanted to eliminate terrorism, they would have to do even handed justice and deal with the criminals in strict terms.
He said that the country was facing numerous crises, as the common man was confronted with the problems of price hike, corruption, lawlessness and unemployment. Therefore, all political parties should give up mutual tug of war and join hands for the solution of these problems.
