LAHORE - 47,800 companies are registered as taxpayers in the country, but only 15,000 of these companies file the tax returns,” former governor of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Shahid Kardar said on Thursday.
He was speaking at launching ceremony of book titled ‘Goshwara’, written by Khalid Mahmood Rasool, held here. The book, spreading over 264 pages, has six sections containing collection of columns, published in different newspapers on the topic of political economy and published by Jamhoori Publishers.
A large number of people from all walks of life including former foreign minister Sardar Assef Ahmad Ali, Salma Awan, Farukh Sohail Goindi, Qudratullah Ch and others attended the ceremony.
Kardar said writer’s biggest contribution was to discuss a dry topic of economy in simple and plain Urdu language.
The author, Khalid Mahmood Rasool, said, “In book Goshwara, I tried to explain the difficult, yet important aspects and topics essential for the growth of our country, political economy, in Urdu.”
