Police arrest drug peddlers, robbers

RAWALPINDI -Police launched a crackdown in the district and arrested scores of drug peddlers and dacoits, informed a police spokesman on Thursday. Police also seized more than 13kg charas, 65 litres of alcohol and 7 stolen motorcycles from the possession of drug peddlers and dacoits, he added. Separate cases have also been registered against the accused while further investigation was on. According to him, Gujar Khan police arrested five drug peddlers namely Muhammad Iqbal, Shaukat, Meharban, Wahab and Imran Khan and recovered 5650 grams of Charas from their possession. Separate cases have been registered against drug peddlers.

In yet another action, the officials of police stations Ganjmandi, Ratta Amral, Pirwadhai, City, Naseerabad, Jatli, Kahuta, Race Course and Kallan Syedan held drug peddlers and bootleggers namely Abdul Salam, Muhammad Hashim, Muhammad Zakir, Niaz Ahmed, Arif, Abdul Rashid, Muhammad Bilal, Nauman Ali, Zulfiqar Ali, Mazhar Hussain, Muhammad Akram, Arbaz and Musarat and recovered 8 kg charas, 65 litres alcohol and five bottles of liquor and registered cases.
Likewise, Naseerabad police busted a gang of robbers by arresting two of its acting members including ring leader and seized seven stolen motorcycles from their possession.
The detained accused have been identified as Bilal alias Bali and Danish against whom cases were registered.
CPO Umer Saeed Malik appreciated the efforts of SP Potohar Division Rana Abdul Wahab and his team for netting robbers gang.
