LAHORE - The chief secretary Punjab has instructed the secretary education to take action against alleged corruption, nepotism and financial irregularities in Punjab Education Foundation, sources in Punjab Civil Secretariat said here on Saturday. The sources disclosed that the instruction were issued on the application of an association of private schools wherein the association blamed the chairman of the foundation to be involved in using the foundation as tool of political objectives instead of using it for the promotion of education. They termed the foundation as hub of corruption being committed through various ways including the involvement of MD and senior officials of the foundation in illegal appointments, papers out scandal, gratification and kickbacks through FAS programmes, blessing to specific NGOs through CPDP and SLDP programmes. In the application it was stated that as per progress of the last three years, the foundation had failed to serve the purpose of its formation. The application blamed that contrary to the claims of foundation's transparent system, merit was being violated and no job was being given without the involvement of the middleman. Within the last three years one deputy managing director, three directors and five other senior officials were sacked over various charges against them, the application stated and added that board of the foundation had completed its tenure but the caretaker government had extended the services of the present MD and chairman instead of formation of new board of the foundation. It was also disclosed in the application that complaints against the foundation from across the province were on the rise, which were brining bad name for the foundation and government as well. The association of the private schools in the application demanded immediate removal of the present management of the foundation, besides taking the record into custody and get the matter investigated through NAB or any high profile commission.
