The story is very simple but some vested interests are trying to make it the most complicated issue of the judicial history of Pakistan. The Army Chief on November 3, 2007 sent about 60 honorable judges home. Some of them were actually locked in their homes as well. Later he was kind enough to admit that it was a unconstitutional act. Now our Prime Minister is shying away from issuing an executive order that all steps taken by the then Army Chief were unconstitutional and are taken back. His boss, Mr. Zardari is trying his best to delay the reinstatement of judges by any means possible. Although I have no political affiliations with PPP but as a common citizen I feel it height of insolence that respected PPP politicians like Aitzaz Ahsan, Amin Faheem and even Raza Rabbani are being ignored on this issue while the opportunists like Rahman Malik and Mr. Farooq Naik are on the forefront. -ABDUL RAUF, Fateh Jang, via e-mail, May 9.
