It has recently been in news reports that two men alleged to have links with Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have escaped from police custody, at a hospital. The escape of such hardened criminals and terrorists, from under the very nose of the police, have developed into routine incidents. It is evident that the police are not serious in taking initiatives to curb such incidents. Instead, the same mistakes have been repeated again and again. The escape of such terrorists presents implications which can result in the deaths of many innocents. It is important that authorities make sure that proper procedures are being followed, regarding individuals being held in custody. HASSAN BASHIR, Islamabad, May 1
