While the media was reporting Imran Khan’s rigging allegations and protests prudently, it turns out that the allegations were true and the results from 246 in NA-68 were false. Whether the votes were manipulated consciously or were a typo error is of no consequence. The Election Commission of Pakistan bears responsibility for the results and it’s their duty to check and countercheck the counting until they are sure that no mistake has been made. The election process is the most important part of a democracy and the creditability of an elected government rests on the election process, which means that no mistakes are accepted. Today’s probe has shown that the ECP has failed to do its duty. Now it should resign and a new Election Commission should be made.
