LAHORE  - A 45-year-old woman ended her life by drinking acid at her house in Satu Katla on Saturday, police sources said.
Initial investigation revealed that Kalsoom Bibi consumed acid following the Lahore High Court (LHC) rejected the post-arrest bail of her son in an abduction case, a police spokesman said. The woman was rushed to the Jinnah hospital where she was pronounced as brought dead.
Nazir Ahmed told the police that his wife got dejected as her son Nasir was sent to jail following the High Court rejected his bail petition. He was arrested on the charges of kidnapping a young girl. A case was registered against Nasir in the Satu Katla police station on the complaint of Zulfikar, father of the girl.
According to the family, the girl had eloped with Nasir but the police implicated him in a fake case allegedly after accepting bribe from the complainant.
