Punjab topple KP for hockey title

LAHORE – Punjab hockey team outclassed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) by 6-0 in the Inter-Provincial U-14 Hockey final here at the National Hockey Stadium on Saturday. Director General SBP Usman Anwar was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony and handed over prizes to winners. Punjab availed two penalty corners out of five while KP team could not earn a single one. At the interval, Punjab had a slim lead of 1-0. In the second half, Mehmood Daniyal and M Kamran Asghar sent the ball twice each in the goalpost while Ibrar Ahmed and Bilal Younis contributed one goal each respectively to steer their team to impressive victory. Ahmer Ali of Punjab played superb hockey and therefore was declared the best player of the championship. Before the final, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) played quality hockey and thrashed Balochistan 6-0 to claim the third position.–Staff Reporter
