RAWALPINDI: A seminar to create awareness about polio was arranged by Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) in collaboration with Rotary Club on Saturday in which the participants pledged that they were committed to eradicating the disease from Pakistan.

Addressing the seminar, Rai Niaz Ahmed, vice chancellor University of Arid Agriculture, said that the university, its staff and students would lead the awareness campaign about polio. Naheed Manzoor of RAC said that awareness about polio was need of the hour. Governor Rotary Club Haji Iftikhar Ahmed said that it was tremendous tyranny to kill polio workers, especially female workers, and it is against the spirit of Islam.–Staff Reporter

He said that there were only three countries including Pakistan in the world, which still have poliovirus.


Unity stressed

LAHORE: National Commission for Law Interfaith Harmony and Human Rights Pakistan provincial coordinator Chaudhary Muhammad Ismael of Khawaja Faiq has said efforts of anti-state elements will fail.  He called for forging unity saying that the entire nation was standing by the forces of Pakistan to support them against all conspiracies being hatched against them.

He expressed these views while addressing a meeting y.

He has said that the new governments both in India and Afghanistan apparently were not in the favor of Pakistan.  NCLIHP president Syed Muhammad Moeen also spoke on the occasion and he appreciated the appointment of Ismael as provincial coordinator of the organization.–Staff Reporter
