ISLAMABAD - Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Islamabad police has busted an inter-provincial gang involved in selling stolen cars after tampering them and also recovered an excavator from a carjacker, a police spokesman said on Sunday.

He said that two persons were nabbed by Special Investigation Unit a few days ago for their alleged involvement in car theft cases.

Following their arrest, SP (Investigation) Capt (Retd) Muhammad Ilyas constituted a special team including DSP Bashir Ahmed Noon, Inspector Shafique and ASI Syed Asif Hussain to arrest their other accomplices. This team succeeded to arrest two persons Israr Ali and Yunus from Peshawar as they also confessed to sell stolen cars after tampering them.

Moreover, Sub-Inspector Tariq Rauf and ASI Haider Ali Shah nabbed Zar Wali from Buner who was involved in a dacoity in a spare parts shop in Tarnol area on June 7, 2014.

He and his other accomplice Asif purchased an excavator after selling looted items which police have recovered.
