LMHA to protest against

one-dish decision

LAHORE (PR): The Lahore Marriage Halls Association (LMHA) on Sunday decided to launch a protest campaign against proposed legislation implementation of one-dish in the marriage functions. As part of protest campaign, first demonstration would be held outside Lahore Press Club (LPC) on May 26, President LMHA, Mian Ilyas said while addressing a meeting of association members. According to a statement, Catering Association, Poultry Suppliers Association, Meat Suppliers Association, Flower Decoration Association, Tent Service Association, Light Decorate Association, Generator Association, Waiters Association and people from other bodies would take part in the protest demonstration.

LMHA President said that government action to restricting marriage ceremonies to only one-dish was likely to damage bossiness of thousands of men. He said large number of workers will be unemployed if the policy was implemented as it was happened in 1998.

4.44m acres to be brought under paddy cultivation in Punjab

LAHORE (APP):  An area of 4.44 million acres will be brought under paddy cultivation in the Punjab in year 2015-16 through which 3.5 million tonnes of production will be achieved. Punjab Agriculture Department Director Information Muhammad Rafiq Akhtar told APP on Sunday that paddy growers should sow Punjab agriculture department certified varieties to get maximum yield on per acre of land. Certified varieties includes Super Basmati, Basmati-370, Basmati-385, Basmati Pak (Kernal Basmati), Basmati-2000, Basmati-515, , PS-2, PK-386 and Basmati-198. In Sahiwal, Okara and in adjoining areas the paniri should be sown from the start of June till June 20 while conducive time for sowing Shaheen Basmati paniri is from June 15 to 30, he adds.

Rafiq Akhtar suggested growers to sow thick (Moti) paddy varieties which were ARI-6, KS-282, KSK-133, KSK- 434, Nayyab-2013 and Nayyab ARI-9 paniri till June 20 while complete Hybrid varieties Shanshah-2, PHB-71 paniri sowing till June 15.

‘Govt to give people-friendly budget’

LAHORE (APP): The forthcoming budget 2015-16 will be people-friendly and has a lion share for education, health and energy sectors. Talking to APP here on Sunday, PML-N MPA Chaudhry Muhammad Akraam said the government was preparing budget keeping in mind the welfare and well-being of people. To a question, he criticized PTI Chief Imran Khan and said the real sense of politics was the role of strong opposition to guide the government for right track but the PTI and other opposition parties was doing politics of agitation.  PTI Chief even did not know the ABC of politics, he said and added the way he was addressing the other politicians, against the political norms.

Central Asian States support

CPEC: Tajik envoy

ISLAMABAD (INP): Ambassador of Tajikistan Sherali S. Jononov has said that the Central Asian States fully support China-Pakistan corridor project, hoping it will narrow down the distance among the regional countries through road and rail links for their socio-economic uplift. “This project is of our common benefit,” he said while talking with a group of journalists here at his embassy. His country, he said is looking forward to its early implementation, since it will have positive impact on whole of the region. To a question, he expressed the hope that energy project CASA 1,000 will be completed by 2018 and Pakistan will be able to get highly cheap and clean energy from Tajikistan after completion of this project.

Most of the pollution related problems of Pakistan will also come to an end after Tajik energy starts pouring into the country. He hoped that the work on this mega project will start within next four to five months.

About the upcoming water conference being hosted by Tajikistan on June 9-11, the ambassador said it will be an important event as a large number of foreign delegates, including delegates from Pakistan, are scheduled to attend the conference. The ambassador further said our government has extended an invitation to Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif to attend this high-profile event. He told 16 Pakistani companies and NGOs have already conveyed their willingness to participate in the conference.

He said the primary goal of the conference is a comprehensive discussion of the issues of implementation of the international Decade for Action Water For Life 2005-15, which will later play a crucial role in conducting comprehensive review of the implementation of the international decade with bringing its results to the notice of wider international community.

Bank recovery rate in SES touches 99.8pc

LAHORE (APP): Punjab government’s self employement schemes’ recovery rate of the amounts reached at 99.8pc which showed its success. The high recovery rate in this scheme was itself a new record of such public schemes, Chairman of the scheme Allau ud Din Sheikh told APP here on Sunday. He said, the government has started second phase of distribution of vehicles among youth after sucess of the first phase. The vehicles have been distributed on the prices less than the market without any favour throughout the province, adding that this scheme was totally transparent while 50 thousand vehicles would be distributed under the scheme.

The scheme was a clear proof of the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif due to which youth will be able to self reliant.

He said that the scheme would help resolving the transport problems and will also play role in improving living standard of people.
