Swabi: Two pilots on a twin-seater training fighter jet of Pakistan Air Force survived a deadly crash in Shah Mansoor town near Swabi this morning.

In a short statement, PAF spokesperson Air Commodore SM Ali said that a K-8 trainer aircraft was destroyed when it crashed during a training mission in Zaida village of Shah Mansoor area in Swabi district.

The spokesman added that both pilots of the aircraft ejected safely.

He further said a board of inquiry has been ordered by Air Headquarters to determine the cause of the accident. No loss of civilian life or property was reported on the ground.

According to PAF sources, the jet took off from Risalpur Airbase on a routine operational training mission and crashed in Shah Mansoor area of Swabi due to a technical fault. Fortunately, the pilot and co-pilot survived as they only sustained injuries in the mishap.

Rescue teams have shifted the injured to Bacha Khan Medical Complex, Swabi.
