The NRO list being made public has proved to be a bombshell for thousands of beneficiaries that include a number of politicians and bureaucrats that took its cover. Top leadership of the PPP and their federal ministers are also included. So an open war is possibly on anvil between the courts and politicians. The opposition parties, after divulgence of the list, condemned the federal ministers on the list. Included among those are the Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Minister for Defence Ahmad Mukhtar whose resignations are being demanded. A few days ago, the Transparency International (TI) had claimed that the country had slipped up the scale to 42nd position in the TI Corruption Index.
