ISLAMABAD Endorsing the proposed Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan Package, PML-Q central leader Pervaiz Elahi stressed for elimination of Indian interference in Balochistan to ensure lasting peace in the province and make the package a success. Elahi also thanked Government for incorporating recommendations of Shujaat Committee in the package, adding that PML-Q government had taken practical steps for development of the province. Our government had executed mega projects worth Rs. 164 billion in the province including Gwadar Port, Coastal Highway and Mirani Dam, Elahi added. He further said that Chaudhry Shujaat during his tenure as prime minister had announced formation of parliamentary committee on Balochistan, which was later headed by him, saying they were proud that government had incorporated majority of the recommendations of that committee in the proposed Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan Package. PML-Q leader questioned governments ability to effectively implement the package, saying implementation mechanism proposed for the package was full of ambiguities. Government cant control the sugar crisis, how it would be able to effectively implement the package, Elahi asked. Elahi, however, forwarded three suggestions for successful implementation of the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan Package. He said there was no need of convening another joint session of the Parliament over the package. Instead, government should convene session of the Balochistan Assembly immediately after Eid-ul-Azha so that it might own and endorse the package, he suggested. Moreover, Government should announce general amnesty for Baloch separatist elements to win hearts of the people of the province. Furthermore, the Prime Minister should form an all-party representative delegation, which should visit the province and take all those leaders and elements on board who were not consulted in formulation of the package, Elahi said. Elahi also suggested government to write off agricultural loans obtained by farmers of the province. He also stressed that Government should take up the issue of Indian interference in Balochistan at international fora, adding that no durable peace in the province was possible without elimination of foreign interference in the province. He also suggested for extending the scope of the judicial commission being proposed for finding facts regarding the murder of veteran Baloch leader Akbar Bugti to explore the facts regarding target killing of settlers and leaders of the minority sects. He also stressed for ensuring transparency for transparent utilisation of resources being allocated to the province. While adding to the suggestions forwarded by Pervaiz Elahi, Senator Wasim Sajjad said that offices of Gwadar Port Authority should be shifted to Quetta or Gwadar and that the province should be linked with Iran through road and rail network. He also stressed the government for promotion of industry in the province to create employment opportunities for the Baloch youth. Responding to a query, Pervaiz Elahi said that PML-Q supported provincial autonomy and the judicial commission for finding facts regarding murder of Akbar Bugti.
