LAHORE - Dacoits on Wednesday shot at and wounded a factory owner on offering resistance, looted five houses and made off with cash, gold ornaments, cellular phones and other valuables worth millions of rupees besides two cars and five motorcycles in 40 successful strikes from different parts of the Punjab Capital, police sources claimed. Robbers forced their entry into the factory of Muhammad Tariq situated in Harbanspura police area and held up the owner and his staff at gunpoint. As Tariq offered resistance, the bandits shot at and wounded him and fled away after collecting cash and valuables worth Rs 40,000. Robbers held up Asad and his family at gunpoint in Wapda Town, the vicinity of Satu Katla police and fled away after snatching cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs one million. Three robbers equipped with pistols barged into the house of Irfan situated in Nawan Kot police area and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 700,000 after holding the inmates hostage at gunpoint. Armed bandits forced their entry into the house of Jamshaid in Gujjarpura police vicinity and escaped after collecting cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 500,000 at gunpoint. Gunmen burst into the house of Aslam in Shadbagh police precincts, held up the family members at gunpoint and fled away after snatching cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 500,000. Not enough, armed bandits stormed into the residences of Niaz and Azmat in Shafiqabad and Lower Mall police areas respectively and escaped after collecting cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 700,000. Robbers riding on motorcycles stormed into a general store located in Gulberg police area and took away cash and other valuables worth Rs 800,000 at gunpoint. Armed bandits riding motorcycles intercepted three passersby in Shadbagh and Naseerabad police area respectively, held them up at gunpoint and snatched away cash and three mobiles. Two gunmen intercepted a motorcyclist in Kot Lakhpat police area and held him up at gunpoint. The robbers fled away after snatching his new motorcycle, mobile phone and purse, containing thousands of rupees. Two motorcycles (LEP-6844 and LEM-8154) were either snatched or stolen away from Sanda and Lahore General Hospital areas respectively. Thieves broke into a farmhouse located in Barki police precinct and made off with an electric transformer and other valuables worth thousands of rupees. Two gunmen riding a motorcycle intercepted a man in Hydraya police area and deprived him of his belongings including cash and mobile phone at gunpoint. Two armed bandits held up another passerby in Defense police area and snatched away his cellular phone and purse, containing thousands of rupees. Armed bandits also looted two passersby in Nishtar Colony police area and took away cash and three cellular phones after holding them hostage at gunpoint. Robbers also deprived passersby of their belongings including cash and cellular phones in Ghaziabad, City Raiwind, Faisal Town, Samanabad, Icchra, Mustafabad, Shera Kot, Nishtar Colony, and Shadbagh police areas at gunpoint. Two cars were driven away from Naseerabad and North Cantonment police areas while another two motorcycles were stolen away from Green town and Sabzazar police areas respectively.
