LAHORE - Haj flights of the PIA have started getting late, causing problems for haj pilgrims who are already unhappy over ill-treatment given by the Saudi government during their stay in Mina and other cities of Saudi Arabia. Two flights that arrived here at Allama Iqbla International Airport were extraordinary late.Pk-3306 which was scheduled to arrive at 10:00 am on Wednesday arrived at 7:00 pm with a delay of about 9 hours while Pk-3406 which had to arrive at 2:00 pm on Wednesday came at 4:50 am on Thursday with a delay of 14 hours, said a CAA inquiry office employee. The families of the pilgrims, turning up at the airport, are facing troubles owing to the flights delay. Jeddah-Karachi PK-3202 arrived in Karachi six hours late at 08:50 am instead of 02:50 am. The families of pilgrims told that flights delay and unavailability of correct information from PIAs Flight Inquiry put them on horns through the night. The pilgrims have demanded of the government to sack the officers and officials concerned of Haj Mission responsible for negligent attitude towards pilgrims. When talked to spokesman of PIA said that there was no fault on the part of PIA but all it was being done due to the congestion created on Jeddah Airport which is too small to cater such huge number of Hajjis at the same time. He claimed that there was no technical delay so far and the operation would be normal after a week.
