LAHORE The Lahore High Court on Wednesday called for a report for December 1 next from the Punjab government to a petition which questions imposition of commercialisation/conversion fees under the Punjab Land Use (Classification, Reclassification, Redevelopment) Rules 2009. The petition has been filed by a Sialkot shopkeeper through advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique after the authorities had sealed his shop on the plea that he did not pay the commercial fees. The petitioner inter alia, argues that the Constitution does not permit the respondents to impose the fees in question mainly for the reason, no facilities have been provided to the petitioner and others of his class, in luau of that. The counsel said his client was running his own car AC shop to earn a modest livelihood. After hearing the counsel the court called for a reply from the respondent on December 1 next.
