SHO reluctant to arrest killers despite IG's orders

LAHORE - Notwithstanding the murderers have allegedly confessed their crime when every concerned police officer of Multan allegedly refused to arrest them, a mother whose 25-year-old son was brutally tortured to death, approached TheNation to seek justice. The victim Zehnwar Bibi, resident of Basti Pathanwala in Mouza Mochi Panohan, Multan, revealed that two accused Mohammad Shafih and Mohammad Jalal, sons of Mohammad Bilal, along with two unidentified accomplices killed her son Riaz Hussain on August 15 this year. But, according to the woman, the SHO City Jalalpur Pir Wala Ch Munawar Gujjar flatly refused to register the case against the aforesaid killers after he allegedly received 'handsome bribe. After perpetual denial of the SHO to register the case, the victim family approached Jalalpur Pir Wala Additional and Session Judge Aslam Parvaiz Koreja and submitted an application on which the judge issued orders for registration of case. Interestingly, instead to register the case, the SHO provided a copy of the orders to the accused, who challenged the orders in the High Court of Multan Bench. The victims again moved the lower court for compliance of orders where the SHO secured his skin saying the case was in the High Court so he could do nothing in this regard. In the meantime Fiaz Hussain, brother of the deceased, approached IGP Tariq Saleem Dogar and appealed for justice on which the IGP directed CPO Multan Syed Dilawar Abbas to probe into the matter. Following the directives of the CPO, SP Karamatullah Malik visited our home and a case (491/10) under section 302/34 was registered against the accused, Fiaz added. After confessing their crime, the accused elder relative Afzal Naich was pressurising for compromise but IO ASI Mustafa and SHO Munawar were hurling life threats on my husband Sharif Hussain and my sons, Zehnwar Bibi said. She further alleged the SHO publicly said the main share of bribing money was being sent to the CPO Multan and SP Karamatullah Malik had also directed not to arrest the accused. When asked about the case and his alleged involvement in receiving bribe, the DIG Syed Dilawar Abbas could not furnish any suitable reply and switched off his cell phone. Moreover, SHO Munawar and SP Karamatullah Malik also did not respond despite the repeated calls. Reportedly, this is the same SP who was snubbed by CM Shahbaz Sharif in past after the media published his scandals of criminal negligence regarding various cases but he was pardoned off when he submitted his apology in writing.
