Wishing happiness to others is a great act but the appropriate manner is very important. All over the world new year is celebrated with rowdy parties and dancing, but our new year falls in a sacred and holy month, a month when we are grieving for the loss of our Holy Prophets (PBUH) family.
We need to wish each other with a greeting appropriate to the occasion and with somberness. The main ideology in Islam is not to hurt anyone and if we keep that in mind nothing can go wrong. We can celebrate our new year by making sure that there are no deaths on Muharam 9 and 10, as these are high risk times in the last few years. There are nice Hadiths and information that we can send with our greetings keeping the Islamic spirit.
