Anti-drone drive takes PTI popularity graph up

LAHORE - The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf has become the country’s most popular political party after launching anti-drone protests, claimed Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed and Shafqat Mehmood, adding that their party wouldn’t even hesitate to sacrifice its government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwah on the cost of public issues.
PTI senior leaders, Mehmood and Shafqat made this claim addressing a public meeting on Sunday. They maintained the ruling parties are always used to take a confusing position over the issue of drones, which are killing scores of innocent tribal people in the US-led so-called terror war. However, they said, the PTI is the only party which has taken a clear and direct line against the drone attacks.
The PTI leaders said that they, after taking a clear position against the drone attacks, have not only held a successful protest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwah but also blocked the supply line. They maintained that more people are joining the PTI ranks strongly believing that the PML-N’s government has failed to deliver on every front and there was no virtual government on the ground.
Mehmood and Shafqat claimed the PTI would sweep the local government elections, giving a real dent to the ruling party in the ruling party.
Meanwhile, local leaders of the PML-N, Majid Alam and Khwaja Ansar along with their supporters announced joining the PTI during a meeting with Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed.
