Space story began with a big bang. According to the recent scientific discoveries the universe and space started from a formation of the highest density in the earliest times of the universe. Temperatures were at maximum degrees and it happened more than 13 billion years ago. After big bang, the universe began to get cooler and cooler as time passed. Cooling and expanding caused the formation of space between various galaxies, stars, planets, moons and other structures.

According to scientific knowledge presently, cooling and expansion in the universe have been going on continuously since the big bang, making it vaster with passing time.

In simple words, space is the distance between different formations in the universe. As space distances are increasing, according to many scientific experiments and discoveries, most space scientists have a view point that the universe is expanding and cooling.

Science fiction has become a new branch of literature in this era of space shuttles, space stations, satellites, space telescopes, and many other such new things. Some people nowadays like to read fictional stories in comics, science fiction, novels about remote planets, galaxies, and strange fictional creatures inhabiting, in their fictional imaginations, there. Others like to listen radio programs, or watching television dramas and movies showing space stations and such stories. Mostly such stories are totally fictional as most parts of these stories are without any scientific basis. According to scientific knowledge and discoveries made about space till now, no such things are discovered as often written about, in science fiction novels, or shown in television series and movies.

However, some fictional stories became scientific realities too. On 21st July, 1969 three  astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins reached the Moon. Many interesting  stories about humans' reaching the moon were written before and after that event. "From the Earth to the Moon" by Julius Verne was one such famous and interesting story.

A robotic vehicle Rover reached the planet Mars on 6th August, 2012. Fictional stories about Mars too, remained an interesting part of literature in the 20th and 21st centuries. The most interesting and famous story about Mars was "The War of the Worlds", written by H. G. Wells in 1897 as a novel. It is one of the most reviewed novels in the science fiction. It became famous when it was adapted for a radio broadcast in 1938. It was dramatized so well that some people who hadn't listened the beginning of the program mistook it as creatures from the Mars had really came on the Earth and destroying it. In that period there were many speculations about possibilities of harmful space creatures coming to the Earth.

In 20th and 21st centuries, several movies, radio broadcasts, television drama series, comics  and electronic video games are made on the story written by H. G. Wells in the 19th century. But in the 21st century space story the most interesting part is about the scientists and astronauts endeavoring to reach as far as possible to the distant planets, stars and galaxies in the Universe. For those interested in the space story, these scientists and astronauts seem sometimes like "Alice in the Wonderland" while they sometimes seem like "Alice looking through the glass". Through scientific knowledge and space endeavors, space scientists are discovering how small the planet Earth is, in astonishingly vast Universe.
