KARACHI -  Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that he is working for the preservation of archaeological sites in the province.

Talking to Ambassador of Italy Stefano Pontecorve, who met him here at the CM House on Thursday, he appealed to the donor agencies to provide him necessary assistance for the purpose.

He was accompanied by Gianluca Rubagotti, while Principal Secretary to CM Naveed Kamran Baloch was also present on the occasion.

He said that UNESCO was supporting the Sindh government for the rehabilitation of archaeological sites in Maki, and similarly work on sites in Mohenjo Daro was also underway.

“Apart from this, there are lots of sites which need to be preserved,” he added.

The Ambassador of Italy said that he had enough funds of $4 to $5 million for preserving archeological sites for which his government was ready to work with the Sindh government.

In the meeting, both also agreed to further coordinate with each other on the subject.

Latter, the chief minister presented a Sindhi cap, ajrak and memento to the visiting diplomat.
