LAHORE - The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Thursday announced the 18-member junior team for the upcoming Junior Hockey World Cup to be played in Lucknow, India from December 8.

PHF spokesman said: "With the approval of PHF president Brig (R) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar, the national selection committee has announced the team which is selected purely on merit and hopefully, it will deliver during the mega event.” He said the team has been picked from the best available talent after watching their performance in the camp which continued for three weeks.

“The 18-member squad comprises Ali Raza and Muneeb-ur-Rehman (goalkeepers), M Atif Mushtaq, Hassan Anwar and Mubashar Ali (fullbacks), Ahmad Shakeel Butt (captain), Abu Bakar Mahmood, Faizan, M Junaid Kamal and Tazeem-ul-Hassan (halves), Shan Irshad, M Azfar Yaqoob, M Dilber (vc), M Atiq, M Bilal Qadir, Mohsin Sabir, Rana Suhail Riaz and Sami Ullah (forwards),” he said.

He added that eight standbys were Hafiz M Ali Umair (goalkeeper), Zahid Ullah (fullback), M Usman, M Adnan (halves), M Rizwan, M Naveed, Fahad Ullah and M Umar Hamdi (forwards).

“The team officials are Khalid Mukhtar Farani (manager), Tahir Zaman (chief coach), M Irfan and Zeeshan Ashraf (assistant coaches), Ghazanfar Ali (nutritionist), Zahid Ali (video analyst) and M Adnan (physiotherapist),” he concluded.
