BHALWAL-The shopkeepers have started establishing encroachments before their shops following the transfer of Assistant Commissioner (AC) Abdullah Khurram Niazi.

Last month, an anti-encroachment drive was launched and under supervision of AC Abdullah Khurram Niazi in which all the encroachments were removed from Post Office Road. But soon after the transfer of Abdullah Khurram Niazi, the shopkeepers have started encroaching the space before their shops. The other night, the shopkeepers, selling used clothes, established encroachments on the road with the connivance of local administration. New Assistant Commissioner Waqas Marth was informed about the encroachments, but not action was taken against the encroachers. The new AC said that he could not remove encroachments until he received orders from deputy commissioner.

A citizen, Advocate Aslam Khokhar, said that the administration was promoting encroachment culture by ignoring the encroachers occupying Post Office Road. Another citizen, Advocate Saeed Amjad Paracha, sought sincere efforts by the administration for removal of encroachments.
