LAHORE : Former MNA and senior politician Javed Hashmi has alleged that ISI had played a role in his defeat in the by-elections in NA-149.

Speaking in a Waqt TV programme, Hashmi said his relations with ISI had never been cordial. A son of ex-prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani had also told him that ISI had worked against him in the by-election. Some people had got angry with him on his quitting PTI. All the senior PTI leaders had told Imran Khan that no rigging had been committed in the Punjab in the 2013 general elections and that they had no evidence with them in this regard. In spite of this Imran Khan staged the 2014 sit-in at someone’s behest, Hashmi said.

“Imran Khan again is going to stage a sit-in in Islamabad at the behest of certain other people while his party leaders have told him that he is being used by others fourth time,” Hashmi alleged and added November 2 can become a very important occasion. He said Panama Leaks issue would only be resolved in the Supreme Court and Imran would get nothing by coming on roads.

Answering a question, he said he was a Muslim Leaguer and will remain in Muslim League. “I will again stand by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in case he faces a difficult situation. I met Nawaz Sharif only once at his granddaughter’s marriage after quitting PTI,” he said.

Answering another question, he said Raheel Sharif should not be given extension. He was neither asking for extension, nor was the government giving him any extension. He said MQM was revived by General Pervez Musharraf. Those who brought MQM into existence want its end, he concluded.
