Runaway dacoit killed by ‘accomplices’

KASUR-A notorious dacoit, who had escaped police custody two days ago, was killed by the firing of his accomplices here in the wee hours of Monday.
According Kasur DPO Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the accused identified as Abuzar was in the Saddr Police custody on physical remand in a robbery case.
The officer claimed that the accused was a hardened criminal and had been involved in more than 20 cases of heinous crime in Lahore and Kasur districts. A police team escorted him to Jora village for recovery of a pistol and cash two days ago. However, when the police team was returned, it was ambushed by accomplices of the accused near Bhadarpura. The attackers managed to get Abuzar free from the police custody. The police kept on searching for the escaped accused. On Monday, the Mandi Usman Wala police SHO spotted four suspicious persons, riding two bikes at a picket at Garye Wala Chowk. The police attempted to stop them but the suspects, instead, resorted to indiscriminate straight firing and fled away. The policemen started chasing them but the distance had increased considerably. After some time, the police found an injured person who identified himself as Abuzar. He told the police that he got injured by the accomplices. He was shifted to hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way.
The police recovered a pistol from the scene and launched search for the runaway dacoits.
Three crushed to death in accidents
Three persons including a woman were killed in separate traffic accidents here the other day.
According to police, a man was crushed to death by a speeding van on Kutchery Road. Muhammad Nadeem, a resident of Maan, was on the way back home on a motorbike when a speeding van collided with the bike on Kutchery Road, killing him on the spot. The B-Division Police are investigating.
In another incident, a tractor-trolley crushed an elderly man to death near Kasur Rest House. The police said that the tractor-trolley crushed a 60-year-old man to death when he was walking near Kasur Rest House.
In Talwindi, a woman was killed in a collision between a van and motorbike. Jameela Bibi, along with her husband Hadayatullah was travelling on a motorbike when a speeding van hit the bike head-on. As a result, Jameela was killed on the spot and her husband sustained critical injuries and was shifted to a hospital.
