SC dismisses Dasu dam petition

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court dismissed the petition regarding Dasu dam filed by a Chinese power construction company.

A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Shaikh Azmat Saeed heard the case.

Representative of the company, Suleman Butt, informed the court that the World Bank was aware of all sort of matters.

"Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) said that the clash is between us. World Bank has no concerns in this matter," he told the court.

Justice Shaikh Azmat Saeed remarked that the World Bank was not party in this case.

He added that it was the responsibility of the federal government to give a transparent contract.

Additional Attorney General Rana Waqar informed the court that under the Presidential Ordinance of 1960, the government has full right to give contract.

He added that the government had inked an agreement with the International Development Agency (IDA).
