Islamabad - Operation against encroachment will be continued without fear or favour around the city. There will be no compromise on the removal of encroachments from the city as a comprehensive and effective strategy has been formulated to this effect. This was stated by the Mayor Islamabad and Chairman CDA Sheikh Anser Aziz while chairing a meeting held at CDA Headquarters. The meeting was attended by the officers of all concerned formations. The meeting reviewed the progress of ongoing anti-encroachment operations in the city.

The meeting was told that anti-encroachment operations are being carried out without any discrimination and big encroachers are being targeted for the first time. In this connection, Land Survey Department of Planning Wing carried out land demarcation of Centaurs Mall. During the demarcation, it was revealed that the mall has set up its car parking on the estate land.

In order to remove, a series of operations have been conducted against Centaurs shopping mall at Jinnah Avenue, said the CDA officials. During the last week, an operation was conducted in which two entry points with sheds, one guard post and illegally-erected fence / iron grill on public footpath was removed. In the second operation, staff of the Enforcement Directorate removed barriers, iron grills and adjacent wall from the main entry point.

The operation was stopped on the assurance of Mall Administration that they will remove encroachment by them.

Similarly, security barriers installed illegally on the main Jinnah Avenue in front of NICL Building, UBL Building and HBL Building were also removed. During this operation, security fence installed in front of Green Tower and security cabins constructed in front of OGDCL Building were removed. During the third week of October, the Enforcement Directorate came hard on illegal buss stands near Faizabad. During the operation, Murree Hill Tourist Transport Adda was dismantled completely with the help of heavy machinery and the site was handed over to Environment Wing of plantation and landscaping. Moreover, encroachments around Al-Hateem Hotel were also razed. The meeting was also told that two truck load of material from Aabpara Market and two from Markaz G-8 were also confiscated.
