LAHORE - Gunmen shot at and wounded a man for putting up resistance during a road robbery in Sundar police precincts on Tuesday.  Police sources said the robbers snatched Rs45,000 and a mobile phone from the victim, identified as Rizwan. Police reached the spot when the robbers had escaped. The injured was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.

Meanwhile, two robbers stopped a car rider in Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate police area and snatched Rs500,000 from him. Tariq was coming back after withdrawing Rs500,000 from a bank when two motorcyclists intercepted him on a busy road. He was deprived of cash and mobile phone at gunpoint. Police were investigating the incident.

COUPLE ARRESTED FOR SELLING DRUG

City’s Mobiles Police on Tuesday arrested a man and his wife and seized 2.5 kilogram drugs from their possession.  The suspects were identified by police as Naveed and his wife Rizwana.  Police sources said the man and his wife riding a motorcycle were coming to Lahore to supply drugs when a police team stopped them at Old Ravi Bridge for checking.

 

They were shifted to the local police station for interrogation.

MAN CRUSHED UNDER TRAIN

A 60-year-old man was crushed to death under a train in Badami Bagh area on Tuesday. The body, not identified yet, was moved to the morgue.

An eyewitness told the police the man was trying to cross the railway line when a Lahore-bound train ran over him. As a result, he died on the spot. Police were investigating the incident.
