Over 0.35m people fully vaccinated in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD - As many as 3, 52,341 people have been fully vaccinated in district Hyderabad till October 22, the health authorities said. According to official figures, 667844 people had so far received the first dose while 352341 people were fully vaccinated by receiving the second dose of the vaccine. The district focal person informed that on the directions of National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) and the Sindh government, inoculation process was in progress in all four talukas of the district. The number of coronavirus active cases have been recorded as 742 in the district, of which 15 patients are admitted in different hospitals of Hyderabad and Karachi while 727 people are isolated at their homes, daily situation report stated. The district administration has taken measures to facilitate public for getting COVID-19 vaccine and a mass vaccination centre along with 32 centres are operational in different areas of the district. The Deputy Commissioner Fuad Ghaffar Soomro also appealed to the general public to immediately get them vaccinated as vaccination was the only way to curb spread of the virus.

Rotary club organises awareness rally to mark “World Polio Day”

In order to mark “World Polio  Day” the Rotary Club on Sunday organized an awareness rally at Jamshoro. Professor Dr Saeed Mangi, Dr. Naimat Khilji and other doctors led the rally which started from the main gate of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences to the Railway crossing to provide awareness among general public about importance of the anti polio campaigns for permanent eradication of polio virus from our society. The participants of the rally, while holding placards and banners, urged the people to ensure active participation in anti polio drive to completely root out this menace from our country. Polio is a dangerous virus which causes permanent disability to the children, health experts and the civil society activists said while addressing the rally, adding that the only way to root out this menace was an active participation in the polio eradication drive.

 

 

They called for providing awareness among people to get their children below 5 years age to be immunized against the virus.        We should motivate our family members and neighbours to get their children fully vaccinated against polio virus, health experts stressed.

The Rotary Club members also distributed awareness booklets and posters among participants of the rally and called upon them to play a role in the national campaign for eradication of Polio virus.
