ISLAMABAD - National Assembly was informed on Friday that growth-rate after a marked drop in 2008-09 had picked up to over 4.9% in 2009-10. This was stated in a written reply by the Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani during the question hour session in the Lower House. He said in order to improve the industrial production in the country Small & Medium Enterprises (SME) credit guarantee fund worth Rs10b had been established. Venture Capital Fund of Rs10b shall be financed in the same manner, he informed in the written reply. To another question, the federal minister for tourism told the house that during the year 2009-10 PTDC had earned Rs3.553m from motels and Rs0.233m from Lahore-Delhi bus service. He further informed the house that the Ministry of Tourism had earned Rs40.598m under the head of royalty fee trekking and mountaineering. Bijarani also informed inform that the total expected production forecast in the country during the next season was Rs3.8m tons while the annual consumption of sugar in the country was Rs4.2m.
