QUETTA - Three NATO containers were torched in Manguchar area of Kalat district, some 145-kilometers, southeast of provincial capital on Friday. Official sources said that three containers, carrying supplies for NATO forces, deployed in Afghanistan, were travelling to Kandahar from Karachi. As they reached in Mangochar area, some unidentified armed people riding motorcycles intercepted them on RCD highway and opened fire. Later they sprinkled petrol on containers and set them on fire. All three containers were completely gutted. The assailants escaped from the site after setting vehicles on fire. After being informed, personnel of Levies Force reached the spot and cordoned off the area. A case has been registered against unknown persons and investigations were underway. It may be mentioned here that, attacks on NATO containers and oil tankers in central Balochistan are frequently taking place and dozens of NATO vehicles were destroyed in which many drivers have also lost their lives but no arrest has been made in this connection nor any group has claimed responsibility for the attacks on NATO trucks so far.
