ISLAMABAD - Four matches of the 7th National Women Football Championship, currently underway at Pakistan Sports Board Jinnah Stadium and Outer Football Ground on Saturday. In the first match, between Model Town Women Football Club and KP at Jinnah Stadium, KP emerged victor with a solitary goal scored by Hina Qasim in the dying minutes of first half. The players wasted a number of scoring opportunities. Hina finally broke the deadlock and scored a fine goal for KP, which was later proved enough for her side to be eventual winners. In the second match, HEC defeated Sporting Science at Outer Football Ground by 1-0. Saadia Farooq was the goal scorer for HEC. The Sporting Science girls tried their level best to level the score but remained unsuccessful. In the third match Pak Wapda and Sindh at Jinnah Stadium played 1-1 draw. Hina Deedar of Sindh scored an own goal, which provided Wapda a one-goal advantage Fatima Khan levelled the score for Sindh with a neatly taken pass and ease past through a charging Wapda goalie legs into the net. In the last match played at Outer Football Ground, Balochistan girls thrashed AJK girls by 12-0. Shumaila of Balochistan was the star of the show as she scored eight goals for her side. Riffat scored the remaining four goals. Balochistan girls never allowed their opposition to settle down and right from the start of the match begin to attack the opposition goal which resulted in early lead. Balochistan girls keep up the pressure and scored at regular intervals. Man-of-the-match Shumaila was in a great touch as she tore apart the AJK defence on numerous occasions and scored eight goals, she was also the goal provider for Riffat. With today's quarterfinals Diya Club will face Punjab in at Jinnah Stadium, defending champions Young Rising Club will meet Islamabad at the Outer Football Ground. In the third quarterfinal Wapda take on HEC on Monday at Jinnah Stadium and the Balochistan and Sports Sciences will meet in the last quarterfinal at Outer Football ground. MOHSIN ALI
