OUR STAFF REPORTER QILA DIDAR SINGH - Encroachment have plagued every part of the main bazaar, residential and commercial area. Citizens are suffering at the hands of encroachers in the main bazaar and bordering streets, especially Gala Arayaan, Church Road leading to Batala Road and bus stop. The venders and shopkeepers have occupied footpaths, creating trouble for pedestrians, girl students and ladies shopping there. Vegetable, fruits, chicken, beef and mutton sellers with the help of local municipal officials have encroached many places in the main bazaars with their wooden and iron khokhas and throw their garbage on road. Now many unauthorised sign boards are brightly illuminating in main bazaar. Shop owners are putting sign boards at all available vacant wall in the bazaar. Similarly, in the condition of Batala Road, Noorpur Road which is specially occupied with large size of ramps and billiard tables where students of nearby primary and high school not only waste their time but also gamble. The billiard tables have occupied large portion of road which is causing hindrance in flow of traffic. The TMA Qila Didar Singh kick started a number of anti-encroachment drives in the past but due to lack of consistency the drive has failed to produce results. The TMA has announced preparing a comprehensive plan and Rs5.3 million was allocated for preparation of city map. PML -N District President Dewaan Mushtaq Ahmad expressed grave concern over the proposed map and said too much expenditure on a single map could not be tolerated and PML-N would not let anyone digest national treasury. He also demanded Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif and LHC Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry to take notice of the situation. Meanwhile, when this scribe contacted TMA Administrator Shahid Zaman Luk, said that city map of Khushab was prepared for Rs 4 million some months ago and it was not a novel thing.
