LAHORE Leaders of mainstream religious and religio-political parties have stressed upon political and military leadership of the country to give a befitting reply to the US threats and vacate air bases from foreign elements. The speakers at Ittehad Millat Conference organized by Milli Sharee Majlis at a local hotel on Saturday were of the view that the US was trying to impose lost war in Afghanistan on Pakistan. They said that the nation was united and it would fully support the armed forces in the hour of trial. They said unity among religious parties was necessary for taking the country out of prevailing crises. Maulana Khan Muhammad Qadri chaired the conference addressed by ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Munawar Hasan, Jamat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Markazi Jamait-e-Ahle Hadith leader Senator Sajid Mir, Maulana Abdul Malik, Maulana Amir Hamza, Maulana Abdur Rauf Farooqi, Hafiz Kazim Naqvi and Maulana Amjad Khan. Addressing the conference, Syed Munawar Hasan said that the Pakistanis were not slaves and they could not be cowed down by US bullying. The Pakistani rulers might be afraid of the United States of America but 180 million people have no such fear, he said, adding, the nation stood united against the US threats and was ready to render any sacrifice for the countrys independence and sovereignty. He said the miscreants were trying to create dissention in the nation only to serve their mean ends but all such attempts would fail. He said that the rulers claimed that the US could not do without Pakistan, but they never said that they too could do without the superpower. That was why Washington had come down to hurl threats to this nation. He said that time had justified the JI stance that the war on terror was not ours and the nuclear Pakistan was the actual United States of America target. He said Pakistan had suffered heavily during the last ten years due to the US war but instead of acknowledging sacrifices, Washington was hurling threats. However, he was sure that having met a humiliating defeat in Afghanistan, the US would not dare to attack Pakistan. He said the situation had gone much ahead of resolutions. He said the nation had repeatedly called for pulling out of the US so called war on terror but despite having lost 35,000 lives and incurring financial losses worth billions, the rulers were keen on sacrificing national interests at the altar of the US. However, he said, the nation would not permit that. Hafiz Muhammad Saeed said that after Soviet Union, the US was facing humiliating defeat in Afghanistan. He said that the nation was united against any US aggression on Pakistani soil. Sajid Mir said that unity among rulers of Muslim countries was necessary to fail nefarious designs of enemies of Islam and Muslims. He stressed upon making sincere efforts for stopping misuse of Blasphemy Law.
